Radiologic Technologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Radiologic technologists are the medical personnel who perform diagnostic imaging examinations and administer radiation therapy treatments. They are educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection and basic patient care.

Salary: $59,260

Education: There are formal education programs in radiography that lead to a certificate, an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree. The associate's degree program is the most common. These certification programs typically last from six to twelve months, and include both classroom and clinical training.

Demands and Needs: They may earn certificates, associate's degrees or bachelor's degrees in radiology to be eligible for employment in the U.S.; however, most radiology technicians enter the career with associate's degrees. The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology accredits radiography programs and schools.

Reflection: I would not want to be a radiology technician. The reason being that body science isn't my best subject and something I am interested in. I would want to do more like a doctor somewhere  there in the medical field. However, radiologist technician isn't something bad but it isn't something I would want.

Radiation Oncologists

Radiation Oncologist
Duties and Responsibilities:  A radiation oncology technician administers radiation therapy to patients according to a doctor's specific instructions. A technician is responsible for positioning the patient and adjusting the machines to ensure proper dosage. ... Technicians are trained to evaluate the patient's well-being during treatment.

Salary: $447,807

Education: candidates for the medical dosimetry program must have a bachelor's degree and already completed training in radiation therapy. The programs are sponsored and supported by the UNC school of medicine department of radiation oncology and UNC healthcare.

Demands & Needs: Oncologist education Requirements and program overviews. After earning a bachelor's degree, aspiring oncologists must complete medical school to fulfill oncology training, which includes fellowships in oncology and surgical oncology, and residencies in radiation  oncology.

Reflection: Yes, I would want to be an oncologists because it is sorta like a doctors assistance and I would love to be in the medical field. I  love to interact with people and help a lot.

Psychiatric Aide

Psychiatric Aide 
Duties and Responsibilities: Assist mentally impaired or emotionally disturbed patients, working under direction of nursing and medical staff. May assist with daily living activities, lead patients in educational and recreational activities, or accompany patients to and from examinations and treatments

Salary: $25,400

Education: Most jobs for psychiatric aides require completion of high school, and many require a driver's license to aid in the transport of clients to outside activities or appointments. Psychiatric aides are usually well-supervised and are expected to learn their responsibilities while on the job.

Requirements: Usually, a high school diploma plus on-the-job training and a driver's license 

Reflection: I would want to work as being a psychiatric Aide because it is something similar to being a registered nurse. The duties and responsibilities aren't that much different and have some alike tasks. This job reminds of someone who is helping and caring. I feel like this career is as good career for anyone who loves working with people and cares about others. I would definitely look further into this career to see some perks that I might like and see if this is something I would want to do in the future.

Physical Therapist

Physical Theripist
Duties & Responsibilities: Physical therapy is a growing part of the medical industry. Physical therapists are key to recovery for some patients who are recuperating from injuries, illnessses, and surgery. They work with patients to help them regain movement and manage pain, eithier in a hospital or clinical settting.

Salary: $122,130

Education: All programs offer a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. DPT programs typically last 3 years. Many programs require a bachelor's degree for admission as well as specific educational prerequisites, such as classes in anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, and physics.

Demands & Need:

Reflection: I would love to be a physical therapist because as I have mentioned before I love to help people and this profession has alot to do with helping people and communication skills. I believe that I have the skills to master this profession well. Also I have family members and know people who has alot of problems and sometimes just need to talk to someone to know that someone cares. This is a good job to build a closer bond with people and help them and guide them through the problems they have. Your physical, Mental, Emotional, and social health is a big part of your overall health. I would love to help people open up more and feel comfortable talking to someone about problems they may have.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon



Duties and Responsibilities: Perform surgery and related procedures on the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions to treat diseases, injuries, or defects. May diagnose problems of the oral and maxillofacial regions. May perform surgery to improve functions or appearance.

Salary: $252,910

Education: Four years of undergrad work, Four years of dental school and four to six years of residency is a long time.

Demands & Needs:

  • *      Undergraduate preparation. Before you can become an oral surgeon, you must first attend dental school.
  • *      Dental licensing
  • *      Residency and board certificate


       Complete either a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree or a Doctor of Dental Medicine               (D.M.D.) degree. Both degrees have the same curriculum, but respective dental schools choose           which to award their students. You must complete a specialty residency program to practice as             an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Reflection:


I would not like to do this because, it takes a long time to accomplish. I wouldn’t want to do something that takes a long time to accomplish because in the process of going to school I might get bored of one thing and decide to change my mind about the career I am interested in. However I feel like if that does happen it would be a waste of time. So therefore I rather do something quick in case I would want to take the path of another medical career. This is a great career to follow if you are interested in the body and learning about new diseases.

Duties and responsibilities: Optometrist typically do the following: perform vision tests and analyze results. Diagnosis sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, and eye diseases, such as glaucoma. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids, and if state laws permits, medications.

Salary: $103,900 per year

Education: Doctoral or professional degree

Demands & Need For This Profession: Employment of optometrist is projected to grow 17 percent from 2016-2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. Because vision problems seem to occur more frequently later in life, an aging population will lead to demand for more optometrist.

Reflection: This is something I would love to do. I have family members who can't see very well and i think me getting more involved in something I can relate to will be a good thing. Family members such as my grandma, grandpa, brother, sister, mom, uncles, and cousins. I think that this is a very good profession and a lot of people tend to have eye problems seeing but can't afford the materials or treatments to get their eyes fix. To be continued, eyes are a very important thing for our everyday life. So with that being said I would like to be a optometrist.
