student success statement

"I would prefer to even fail with honor than win by cheating."
-Sophocles

It is hard to compete with cheaters. When you cheat you loose more than you win. When you cheat not only do you loose a lot but you also don't learn. For example in class today we watch two videos and one was about a horse rider cheating in a horse race. He was shocking his horse so that they can make it to the finish line first and so that he can win the grand prize. Luckily he was caught on camera in the middle of a photo before reaching the finish line shocking the poor horse. In the photo the horse looked scared and sad. Now if the picture was never taken he would have never been caught but he would have felt guilt for the rest of his life for being unfair. In the second video that we seen we saw a high school wrestler and his honesty pay off. His dad was fighting a battle of cancer and all the high school kid wanted to do was make his dad smile and show him his accomplishment in a wrestling game. Oh boy did he win. How did he win? He won honestly. Not only was he a winner but his component was too. Why? Because of his random act of kindness. Earlier he had lost his dad due to a heart attack and he knew how the high school kid was feeling. So he went up to the high school kid's dad and congratulated him and gave him a hug. He did it honestly and fair. He could have cheated and no one would have ever known but he did it honestly.

Reflection
Yes this career did interest me, I liked the fact that the career had to do with helping people and boosting their self esteem. I am the kind of person who likes to see everyone happy and the thought having a job where I can make someone feel happy makes me happy. What really caught my attention was that not only are you helping people but you are helping them mentally, physically, and emotionally. That is a big part that I would want to help people as far as when I am looking for a particular career I want to study for. Well why you might ask? Well because when you do something good for someone out of the greatness and kindness of your heart it makes you feel good to know that you did something right. I am all about smiles. Out of 365 days in the whole year you would rarely catch me not smiling. This is why making other people happy is a big part of what I would want to do when I am older.

Student Success Statement

"If I've got correct goals, and if I keep on pursing them the best way I know how, everything else falls into line. If I do the right thing right, I'm going to succeed."
-Dan Dierdorf
Dan Dierdorf gave us a good statement to live by. If we do the right thing at the right time no matter what we will be successful. As long as we stay on the right path we will be happy. Though on the right path bad things might cross our way but we have to learn to ignore them and not get distracted. For example in computer class we have a life planning goals journal. Basically in that journal we are suppose to right about our day everyday and them we right goals down that we have for ourselves. When we write down goals we are making a promise that one day someday we will get to them. If we didn't have a goals journal most of us will probably be on the wrong path. A goals journal helps you layout good things in your life. For example like this kid in the video we were shown in class he had a good path ahead of him and he let one thing get in his way and lost it all. He had scholarships and internships and he lost them all due to the fact that he thought that it would be a good idea to run in the middle of the field in the middle of a football game. He lost them all. Most of us don't realize that some of the things we do are not good until something bad happens or until we loose everything. Dan Dierdorf quote helps us to stay inspired and think before we do things to re evaluate if it's the right thing to do or not.

Reflection: Yes I would want to look further into this but then again I don't. The reason this career caught my attention is because I love helping people and part of this career is helping people. The reason why I would not want to do this is because they have to touch people's feet when they are stressed and feet are a big problem for me. I don't really like touching feet. However, besides  that I would love to look into this and see if this is something that I would actually consider.

An Internal Phenomenon

"The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon self-respect, dignity (self worth), integrity and self esteem."
-Dr. Laura Schlessinger

What this statements means is that when you do something right you don't always need materialistic things to acknowledge that you have done something right. The gift that you will always receive  when you do something right is that good gut feeling. That is the reward that you will always receive if you don't gain anything else. This statement also explains that self esteem and integrity is phenomenon. Phenomenon is a fact or situation that is observed to exist or happen, especially one whose cause or explanation is in a question.  Doing something right really shows someone your self worth, dignity, and how you handle your self esteem. Handling your self esteem meaning that even if you don't want to help or do something but you do it because you see someone struggling or because you know it's the right thing to do really shows your self worth. It shows your self worth and self esteem in a positive way.

Challenges As A Teen I Am Facing?
  1. High Parental Expectations
  2. Academic Problems (School)
Being a CTR student helps me overcome my challenges by always doing the right thing and trying my best to do what my mom expects me to do. Also helps me by always having faith and just reminding myself all the hard work I give now will someday pay off. Being a CTR person isn't always easy but its the best choice that you could/will ever make.

How I can help other teens overcome their challenges is by one day making something of myself even though I had many obstacles in the way but somehow managing to make it through the rain in it toughest times. I can one day share my stories and my way of thinking and the method I use to maybe help someone else.

Reflection: The biggest need that teens need is parental support and parents time and attention. What I would say what kids in society today especially need is both parents or someone taking the role. For a girl she needs a mom leading a great example that life isn't easy and challenges will come along but no matter what you have to overcome it. For a boy what I would say he needs the most is a father figure in his life showing him how to grow into a young men. Many kids today don't have both parents in their life and believe or not that does take a toll on kids as they get older and face certain situations. Another thing that kids will need the most is knowledge because life is like a test constantly testing your skills. Life is like a roller coaster it has good times but it also has bad times. Teens or kids in general just need a good role model.
